Porto-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 days remote/week).
As a Senior QA Automation Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leading financial services group within the banking industry. You will play a crucial role in ensuring the robustness and performance of web applications within the Distribution and Data platform of a major banking group. Your expertise will support cutting-edge digital solutions that impact millions of customers, offering a dynamic environment for career advancement and technical growth.
Your main responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain end-to-end automated tests using Playwright (TypeScript/JavaScript) to ensure high-quality releases.
- Manage test cases, plans, and execution within Xray (Jira), ensuring complete traceability from requirements to defects.
- Perform manual exploratory, functional, regression, and integration testing for web applications, defining and implementing test strategies for new features.
- Collaborate closely with Developers, Product Managers, and Business Analysts in both French and English to understand requirements and define clear acceptance criteria.
- Track, identify, and document bugs using Jira, facilitating efficient defect resolution.
- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins) to enable continuous feedback and testing cycles.
- Promote QA best practices, participate in code reviews, and contribute to refining testing processes for ongoing improvement.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- At least 8 years of experience in software testing, with strong hands-on expertise in automation.
- Proven proficiency with Playwright (Node.js, TypeScript/JavaScript) to develop robust automated tests.
- Practical experience managing tests within Jira using Xray.
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, SDLC, and Agile/Scrum processes.
- Experience testing RESTful APIs with tools such as Postman or through Playwright.
- Proficiency with Git (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with high attention to detail.
It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)
- Experience with Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) using Cucumber/Gherkin.
- Knowledge of performance and load testing tools like k6 or Playwright-based testing.
- ISTQB or equivalent QA certification.
Language Required for the role:
Fluent English (spoken and written). Professional level of French is required to liaise effectively with stakeholders and translate business needs into test cases.
