Senior Network Security Automation Engineer – API & Firewall Integration

As a Senior Network Security Automation Engineer – API & Firewall Integration, you will be working for our client within the cybersecurity industry, focused on advancing network protection solutions. You will contribute to developing automated workflows and API connectors to streamline firewall management, ensuring enhanced security and operational efficiency.

Your main responsibilities:

• Design, build, and optimize end-to-end Python/Django workflows to automate firewall rule requests, validation, approvals, and provisioning.
• Develop robust API connectors to interact seamlessly with Fortinet (FortiManager/FortiOS via JSON-RPC/REST) and VMware NSX-T (NSX-T Policy API).
• Implement pre-change validation, conflict detection, failure recovery, and safe rollback mechanisms, along with comprehensive unit and integration testing.
• Ensure generated rules adhere to security standards and document code/API contracts for handoff to NetSecOps teams.

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• At least 8 years of experience in software engineering and network security.
• Advanced proficiency in Python 3, Django / Django REST Framework, Celery/Redis, and CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/GitHub Actions).
• Deep expertise with Fortigate/FortiManager, VMware NSX-T architectures, and enterprise routing, switching, and micro-segmentation.
• Strong understanding of automation workflows, API orchestration, and security compliance.

It is a strong plus if you have:

• Certifications in network security or cloud infrastructure.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles.

Language Required for the role:

• Fluent in English and Portuguese.
