Senior Java Backend Developer – Risk and P&L Systems

Location & work model: Porto-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 remote days per week).

As a Senior Java Backend Developer, you will be working for our client within the Risk Department’s P&L Team in Porto. You will contribute to the core modernization of Profit & Loss systems a vital financial KPI by designing robust backend architectures using modern technologies such as Spring Boot, Kafka, OpenShift, and SingleStoreDB. This role offers the chance to accelerate digital transformation in banking finance, working on impactful, high-stakes solutions.

Your main responsibilities:

• Redesign and enhance core backend data loading and processing systems using Java and Spring Boot.
• Participate in migrating legacy infrastructure to modern distributed platforms such as Kafka, OpenShift, and SingleStore DB.
• Develop and maintain automated tests following TDD/BDD principles to ensure high-quality code.
• Collaborate within an Agile environment across the entire software development lifecycle to deliver scalable solutions.

You're ideal for this role if you have:

• At least 7 years of professional experience as a Java Backend Developer in enterprise systems.
• Deep proficiency in Java and Spring Boot frameworks.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases such as SQL Server, Sybase, or SingleStoreDB.
• Hands-on experience with automated testing frameworks and TDD/BDD methodologies.
• Knowledge of Kafka, OpenShift, distributed data systems (Hadoop, HDFS, Hive), microservices, containers, and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
• Fluent command of English (minimum B2 level).

It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)

• Prior experience in Financial Services, Risk Management, or Banking systems.
• Knowledge of French language.
