Lisbon-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 days remote per week).
As a Senior Big Data Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leader in the financial services industry, committed to leveraging big data technologies to enhance operational efficiency and customer insights. Join a dynamic team working closely with Paris-based counterparts to build scalable, high-performance data solutions that redefine industry standards and fuel growth.
Your main responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and optimize big data pipelines using Spark, Hadoop, Hive, and Kafka to ensure robust and performant data processing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement solutions aligned with business goals, ensuring high-quality deliverables.
- Manage source code and deployment pipelines utilizing Git, XL Release, and XL Deploy, supporting continuous integration and delivery.
- Monitor and enhance system performance, providing optimization strategies and troubleshooting issues proactively.
- Work in an international environment, maintaining clear communication and documentation throughout project cycles.
- Apply DevOps practices to streamline development workflows and improve automation processes.
- Prioritize tasks effectively, demonstrating autonomy and organizational skills to meet project deadlines.
- Share knowledge freely, supporting team growth and fostering innovative thinking in a collaborative atmosphere.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- A minimum of 9 years’ experience in software engineering, specifically with big data technologies in the financial or related sectors.
- Solid expertise in Spark, Python, Hadoop, Hive, SQL, Linux, API, and Kafka.
- Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines, source code management (Git), and deployment tools (XL Release, XL Deploy).
- Familiarity with DevOps concepts and scheduling tools such as CTRL-M.
- Excellent command of English (fluent, C1 or higher).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- A positive, collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in a distributed, international team.
- Willingness to learn and share knowledge proactively.
- Knowledge of French is highly valued but not mandatory.
It is a strong plus if you have:
- Certifications in big data or cloud technologies.
- Prior experience in financial services projects involving large-scale data architecture.
Language Required for the role :
Fluent English (C1 or higher).
