COBOL Developer – Legacy Systems and Mainframe

This is a Porto-based hybrid opportunity – 2 days per week in the office.

As a COBOL Developer, you will work for our client, a prominent player in the banking sector. You’ll maintain and enhance legacy systems that support critical financial operations while collaborating with a forward-thinking team to drive impactful developments.

Your main responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain COBOL and Pacbase applications aligned with business requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze and implement solutions.
• Debug and optimize existing applications to ensure high performance.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and user manuals.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders in French.

You’re ideal for the role if you have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 1+ years of experience in COBOL and Pacbase development.
• Fluency in French (spoken and written).
• Experience with mainframe environments and legacy systems.
• Knowledge of DB2 databases.
• Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently.
