Cobol Technical Expert

This is a hybrid Lisbon-based opportunity – 2x in the office

As a Cobol Technical Expert, you will work for our client – a global IT leader driving innovation with cutting-edge solutions and services. You will be responsible for providing advanced technical expertise and support in maintaining and enhancing COBOL-based systems

Your main responsibilities:

• Collaborate with Product Owners, Product Managers, clients, suppliers, and the development team to manage backlogs and new requests

• Analyze requirements, propose solutions, and estimate the effort required for implementation

• Create and review detailed functional and technical specifications to ensure clarity and completeness

• Verify that deliverables meet quality standards at the end of each sprint, ensuring adherence to project requirements

• Identify and eliminate obstacles that may impede progress in other domains, ensuring smooth project execution

You’re ideal for the role if you have:

• At least 6 years of experience with COBOL, SQL, Data Dictionary, and Data Modelling.

• Some experience in the banking sector, with an understanding of industry-specific requirements and processes.

• Strong expertise in writing both functional and technical specifications.

• Exposure to Agile Scrum methodologies, with an ability to work effectively in an Agile environment.

• Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal. French is nice a plus
