Mid-Level COBOL Developer – Mainframe Asset Services

Lisbon-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 2 remote days per week).

As a Mid-Level COBOL Developer, you will be working for our client, a leading asset servicing banking group that supports asset managers, insurance companies, pension funds, and more. You will be integral to maintaining and enhancing core custody applications, ensuring smooth operations and continuous innovation in a dynamic, global environment. This role offers an excellent pathway to grow within a renowned financial institution’s technical team.

Your main responsibilities:

• Maintain and develop existing mainframe applications using COBOL and related technologies
• Conduct technical analysis to support app enhancements and troubleshooting
• Prepare and update technical documentation for system processes and tickets
• Estimate effort and resources required for new and ongoing tickets
• Perform unit testing to ensure code quality and robustness
• Support incident management, collaborating with teams and business units as needed

You’re ideal for this role if you have:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in COBOL development on mainframe platforms
• Strong knowledge of IBM Developer for z/OS and COBOL programming
• Experience with DB2, SQL, and JCL scripting
• Familiar with MQSeries would be a plus
• Good communication skills in English (minimum B2 level)
• Ability to analyze and organize technical tasks efficiently

It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)

• Previous experience working in asset or custody services
• Knowledge of French language skills
