Lisbon-based opportunity with hybrid work model (up to 3 days remote per week).
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will be working for our client, a leader in financial services, focused on enhancing risk management and data analytics capabilities through innovative big data solutions. You will contribute to a strategic Hadoop-based application that centralizes and normalizes sensitivities, enabling smarter decision-making and business growth. This role offers an exciting chance to shape data architectures that deliver tangible impact and foster career development.
Your main responsibilities:
- Develop, test, and implement new features and enhancements for critical data applications.
- Perform evolutive maintenance on mature systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle, from design to deployment.
- Support end-users by resolving technical issues efficiently.
- Provide Level 2 / Level 3 support approximately every 6 weeks, with on-call duties roughly every 4 weeks.
- Continuously improve data processing workflows by leveraging new functionalities of the Hadoop cluster.
- Integrate new sensitivities to support business expansion initiatives.
- Streamline interactions with downstream applications to improve reliability and performance.
You're ideal for this role if you have:
- At least 6 years of experience in data engineering or software engineering.
- Strong expertise in Spark and distributed systems (Hadoop, Spark, Hive, Kafka).
- Proficiency in SQL and programming languages such as Scala or Java.
- Knowledge of code versioning tools, CI/CD processes (e.g., git, Jira, Jenkins, BitBucket).
- High standards for code quality and a test-driven development mindset.
It is a strong plus if you have: (optional)
- Experience with Spring Boot.
- Fluency in French.
- Familiarity with orchestration tools like Control-M.
- Prior experience working with financial systems.
Language Required for the role:
- Fluent English (minimum B2 level).
